Optimal recording configuration for accurate bat counting
Setup Instructions
Camera Position
Place your camera on the ground or low tripod, pointing upward toward the sky. The camera must not move.
Angle Setup
Position the camera so the sky is the background and bats fly across the frame as they exit the roost.
Frame the Exit
Frame the cave/roost opening where bats emerge, ensuring they pass through the field of view.
Tip #1: Record during dusk emergence for optimal lighting conditions. This works even with a classic color camera!
Tip #2: If recording at night or inside a cave, use an IR or thermal camera to capture clear footage.
